On June 6, 2022, Apple announced a new MacBook Air based on the Apple M2 system on a chip. It incorporates several design elements from the fifth-generation MacBook Pro models, such as a flat, slab-shaped design, full-sized function keys, and a Liquid Retina display with rounded corners and a notch for a 1080p webcam.
Still, it retains the previous generation’s fanless design. It includes two combinations of Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 ports and adds MagSafe charging. The MacBook Air laptop with an M2 chip has:
- 13.6-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology;
2560-by-1664 native resolution at 224 pixels per inch with
support for 1 billion colors, Wide color (P3) and True Tone technology with 500 nits brightness - It has an 8GB unified memory, configurable to 16GB or 24GB during purchase.
- The base internal memory is a 256GB SSD configurable to 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB during purchase.
The Apple MacBook Air laptop with M2 chip 2022 comes in four colors: midnight, starlight, space gray and silver.
Below are images of the Apple MacBook Air (M2, 2022) laptop in different color options.
The Apple MacBook Air 2022 laptop with the M2 chip has 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 wireless networking with Bluetooth 5.0 support. For internet calls or camera-related activities, there’s a 1080p FaceTime HD camera with an advanced image signal processor with computational video that makes FaceTime and other video calling enjoyable.
When it comes to sound or audio, the Apple MacBook Air 2022 with an M2 chip has a four-speaker sound system with wide stereo sound and support for Spatial Audio when playing music or video with Dolby Atmos via the built-in speakers.
You can also use Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking when using AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max. A three-mic array with directional beam forming makes the MacBook Air laptop 2022 with an M2 chip a good audio listener.
There’s also a 3.5 mm headphone jack with advanced support for high-impedance headphones, making listening to audio via your preferred wired headphones easy.
