Apple Watch 44mm Series 5 Aluminum (LTE)
Product Brand: Apple
- Cellular connectivity: With LTE connectivity, you can use your Apple Watch to make calls, send texts, stream music and access the internet without the need for your iPhone to be nearby.
- Always-On Retina Display: The Series 5 features an always-on display that makes it easy to check the time, notifications, and other information without having to raise your wrist or tap the screen.
- Health and fitness tracking: The Series 5 comes with a range of health and fitness tracking features, including a heart rate monitor, ECG, fall detection, and a variety of workout tracking modes.
- GPS and compass: The Series 5 has built-in GPS and compass features, making it easy to track your location and get directions without having to rely on your iPhone.
- Water resistance: The Series 5 is water-resistant up to 50 meters, making it suitable for swimming and other water-based activities.
- Price: The LTE version of the Apple Watch Series 5 is more expensive than the Wi-Fi only version and may not be worth the added cost for some users.
- Battery life: The always-on display and cellular connectivity can drain the battery more quickly than the Wi-Fi only version, meaning you may need to charge your watch more frequently.
- Limited carrier support: Not all carriers support the LTE version of the Apple Watch, so you may need to check with your carrier before purchasing to ensure compatibility.
- Limited storage: The LTE version of the Series 5 only comes with 32GB of storage, which may not be enough for some users who want to store music or podcasts on their watch.
- Limited availability: The Series 5 is no longer sold by Apple, so if you want to purchase this model, you may need to look for a refurbished or used version.
The Apple Watch Series 5 was announced on September 10, 2019. Its principal improvements over its predecessor (Apple Watch Series 4) were the addition of a compass and an always-on display with a low-power display driver capable of refresh rates as low as once per second.
Additional new features include International Emergency Calling, enabling emergency calls in over 150 countries, a more energy-efficient S5 processor, an improved ambient light sensor, and storage doubled to 32 GB. The release of the Series 5 also brought back the “Edition” model, with a ceramic model absent from the previous generation. A new titanium model was also included in two colors: natural and Space Black.
At its September 2020 product introduction event, Apple also announced the Apple Watch SE, a lower-cost model. The SE incorporates the same always-on altimeter as the Series 6, but uses the previous-generation S5 processor and previous- (i.e. second) generation optical heart rate sensor; does not include ECG and blood oximeter sensors or an always-on display, and does not include UWB or 5 GHz Wi-Fi communication capabilities.
The Series 5 and above (including the SE model introduced in 2020) also incorporate enhanced hardware- and software-based battery and performance management functionality.
